Opal’s Collaboration with On the Move Art Studio brings the joy of art to seniors at long-term care facilities.

Initially introduced in four Kentucky nursing homes, we’re working to expand the program to facilities across Kentucky & Indiana. Seniors in the program work under the direction of Professional artist Kathy Werking, who creates instructional videos for each bi-weekly project, while Opals provides all necessary supplies. Seniors are encouraged to make each project their own, providing an outlet for self-expression and personal development that is often lacking in skilled care environments. Art stimulates the mind, body, and spirit, making this program uniquely wholistic among our efforts to improve quality of life for seniors in long-term care.

Special thanks to Kathy Werking, Olivia Dotson, and Malik Washington of On the Move Art Studio for making this program possible.

Below is some of the beautiful artwork our seniors have created with the Elder Art program - check back periodically for new additions!
