Opal's Dream Foundation helped to brighten the day for 20 special mothers from Signature Nursing Home in Elizabethtown, KY on Mother's Day. The floral arrangements were given out at their annual Mother's Day brunch. These special gifts were made possible by an anonymous donor to Opal's Dream Foundation.
Christmas came early this year for a couple of local nursing homes with big gift deliveries: on October 16th, Opal's delivered a jukebox to Crestview Care and Rehab, and a popcorn machine to Jefferson Place. The even better news? Opal's is about to swing into full Christmas mode soon, and will be delivering bags of gifts to residents at a number of local homes in the next couple months.
We hope you can join us for a night of fun, with live & silent auctions, food and drink!
Today at Regis Woods, I officiated over a memorial service for Bonnie, a much loved Regis Woods resident who died very unexpectedly. While I opened and closed the service with prayer, and gave a sermon based on John chapter ten, residents eulogized Bonnie with their personal remembrances. We then proceeded to the courtyard to do a balloon release in acknowledgement of Bonnie being released from this earthly realm. This final acknowledgement of the value of every human life is so important. Opal's Dream Foundation and I are privileged to participate in this celebration of a life well lived.

Opal's Dream Foundation presented a jukebox to the residents of Louisville East on Browns Lane on Monday, June 12th. Several of the residents were seen twisting and turning to the music. Music brings such joy and comfort to the lives of the elderly, especially those with physical and mental impairments. Music calms the brain and allows the person to focus on the present. This stimulation can actually help improve the quality of life for many residents.
Mary, a lovely resident of Regis Woods - and her equally photogenic friend, Pepper - are Opal's Dream Foundation's new representatives!
In honor of the work of Opal's Dream Foundation, Highlands Health & Rehab officially renamed the Holly Hall dining room Opal's Cafe at a party thrown by Opal's Dream Foundation in celebration of National Nursing Week. At the party, Sandra received a new walker, and Elvis delighted the residents with his greatest hits.
